3 Effective Tips To Get First Visitor For A New Blog

Digg this

Is it hard to get your very first visitor on your new blog ?. Yes, I knew the answer is yes, especially for a new publisher. Got frustrated about the first visitor is one of typical crisis for a newbie. I did, and you are not the only one. Here I would share some tips on how to pass the crisis of getting visitor on your very new blog.

Your very first blog has just created. Several posts has been published. And a free hit counter (statistic, site meter or what ever it is called) has been installed into your blog page. But the counter keep showing no visitor. Even if there is any, it is probably increased one visitor only every time you load your page. If your hit counter is set with “self visit is excluded”, that’s great !, means the only one visitor is really your very first visitor. But if the hit counter was set with “self visit is included”, then the only one visitor increase is not a visitor. That is you.

The dramatic lazy hit counter story will go for couple of days, weeks, or months depend on how you address it. The posts is seems to be not interesting at all, no one read them, useless, even the blog itself. You would probably drop it. Then you got stuck.

Once again, those situations was exactly happened to me as well, and I believe every newbie does. But I didn’t drop my blog. Instead I did some little research and reading everywhere I can, about :

(-) Why It is so
(-) How to pass the crisis
(-) How to get the very first visitor

Here I would share some basic clues and tips

Why getting first visitor is hard ?

When your new blog has just created, it has actually not been published yet to any search engine. It is just parked on the blog’s server only (i.e. in Google server, if you use Blogger). If you try to search it in any search engine, you won’t find it. You will get “URL IS NOT FOUND” instead. It’s just simply not known by the search engine. For instant, I will search for my new blog named PUTRA, with URL http://putra.blogspot.com/. The easiest way to check visibility of a blog is by typing the blog’s URL.

But if you type the URL on the web browser instead, the browser will be able to lead you to your blog. It means that no one will reach your new blog unless if they know your blog’s URL, not indexed yet, means your new blog has actually not been published yet to the search engine.

Look at the above screen shot, read the sentence in the mint eclipse : “If this is a valid URL, submit it for free”.

First tips; Submit your new blog’s URL to search engines

The first thing to do; Submit your blog url to search engines. The more search engine you send your URL to, the more chance for your new blog to get indexed by search engine, the more chance to get new visitor for your new blog. In addition, also send your url to blog and site directories. There is plenty of search engine and directories out there. Three biggest search engines (Google, Yahoo & MSN Live) are a target you should not forget about. Search for the search engine and directories, and submit your new blog’s URL to them. If you have enough time, you may find directories that relevant to your topic. That will be an advance way to get unique and targeted visitors.

Second tips; Publicize your blog offline

Face the fact that that your blog has not been published yet, there is no way for peoples to reach your blog unless if you let them know about your blog URL. While waiting for the new blog to get indexed by search engine or directories let your friends or family know your blog’s URL. One of the easiest way to make it done is by tailoring a nice signature using your blog URL and put it on every bottom of natural e-mail you submit to them, but never do spam, or you will be deleted from their friend list. If you use any messenger, put your blog URL on the status. If yours is a corporate blog, put your blog’s URL just blow your official corporate website. You may get some visit from them.

Third tips; Visit other’s blog and writte a relevan comment on their post

If you have more time, visit other’s blog, and give a relevan comment, if it’s allowed put a signature using your URL. Avoid irrelevant comment, that won’t be effective, the blog owner most probably will delete your comment. If you writte a quality and relevant comment, visitor’s of the blog may curioust and follow the link you leave with the signature.

The above three basic tips are just enough to get your first visitor, while your blog has not been indexed yet, you may get not your very first visitor but your first tens visitor. You don’t need 10 or 50 complicated and technical tips. While giving a try to the above tips, keep writing and post to your blog. Your first visitor is on the way. You won’t let them bounce back after visiting your empty blog, will you ?.

I am managing 3 blogs after my office hours : Accounting, Finance & Taxation, that just born on 3 months ago and has 4000 visitor a month. Work Life Idea that I ever leave for I am busy with the first blog, and Free Various Business Form that just been published couple of weeks.
